Removals
The size of the van is decided by our staff based on a survey of your home. The survey can either be done by using our online survey or we can arrange a suitable time to visit your home or premises. Once this survey is completed we will calculate the size of van and manpower required.
At the initial time of booking a deposit will be taken and remainder of the cost should be paid in full on the day of the removal. If this isn’t possible due to a third party paying this should be discussed at our initial survey.
Whether it’s your business or your home you can be assured that your goods are in safe hands and fully insured. We take care of all your required needs from moving your furniture to packing to storage. We take care of your goods as if they were our own. With Curries you won’t be disappointed.
We don’t have self storage but your containers can be accessed by appointment. Please give as much notice as possible to allow us to get your container in place.
Our storage containers are of industry standard and are made of timber. They measure 7 feet by 5 feet and 8 feet tall. The containers can hold 250 cubic feet of goods.
You can trust us with your piano we have staff that are experienced in moving pianos as well as having the specialised moving equipment and the specially designed covers for protection in transit.
In a shorter journey our vans will get to your new property in the same time that it takes for a car to get there. With distance removals our trucks are limited to 56Mph and our driver has a legal requirement take a 45 minute break. If the distance is particularly high it may be an option to drive to your new destination in the evening allowing our porters to park up using our sleeping pod and completing your removal the following morning.
If requested we can dismantle and reassemble your furniture however for some pieces may require the use of a joiner. We would discuss this with you after taking a survey of your property. If not agreed all furniture and beds must be dismantled prior to our arrival ensuring we have ample time to complete your removal.
Our removal costs are priced on your needs. Our starting service supplies you with a van and materials to secure and cover your goods in transit. This will also cover the porters required as well as travelling distance. For an extra cost we can also package and store your goods.

As long as the chest of drawers isn’t too heavy then it’s usually okay to leave the contents in them. However some types of furniture like home assembled furniture doesn’t travel well in general and should always be emptied.
Of course you can but please remember to seal all your boxes and make sure they are of a suitable size and strength. This helps us stack your goods in our van ensuring the safe transit of your goods. We have the materials for all your needs.
We can provide you with various boxes including garment hanging boxes as well as wrapping paper, bubble wrap and professional tape. The materials that we use are of good quality insuring maximum protection of your goods. We also provide suite covers, piano covers and various sized TV covers. The price of our packaging materials can be discussed at your initial consultation.
We would normally start your removal between 8 and 9am on the day of your removal but this may not be practical if you are moving a considerable distance or if the volume of your property is too large to be loaded on the one day. Other things we have to take into consideration are access to your current and new property. If this is limited or if we have to park a distance from your property we may have to allow for more time to complete your removal.
The number of removal porters provided is decided by the information collated on our initial survey. We normally have at least 2 men but this can go up to 4 plus depending on the volume of your removal and your overall schedule.
